Is the me everyone sees drawing people to or from the Lord. I think about the person I have been and reflect on all the relationships lost. I wonder: is Christ my life or do I allow Him in occasionally. What if I were the drunk homeless man? Would I be moved by the love of Christ or turned away in despair. What if I thought about every day in this way? I think this would help me see my impact and then my call. I hope that these What ifs… can sober up the complacency in my life and call others to account as well.
Destined to illuminate
Posted in Uncategorized on November 27, 2007 by jeremiefisherHow many of you would agree, when God speaks things happen? I believe that God speaks directly through the impossible (out of nothing) and calls for His goodness. I love light. It defines our world. It guides our steps. It very much allows us to concieve color and dimension. Let’s take a look at Genesis chapter 1. God begins by saying let there be light. What is light? Well, when God created it, it was not sourced by any body except His word. A illumination outside of any cause. His word set the heavens ablaze to define and color His creation. Now lets leap over to matthew where Jesus, God made flesh, says we are the light of the world (matt. 5:14-16). He goes on to commission the light; shine on men. He spoke to us and so we Are. Light with only our commissioner Christ the source. We are the light because Christ is the light. With these words from God we are sealed in the commission, destined to illuminate. Christ in us defining and coloring His creation.
Becoming who I am (salvation in transition)
Posted in Uncategorized on November 13, 2007 by jeremiefisherIt’s funny how Christians view salvation. Many believe that it is the insurance one needs in order to avoid hell. A sort of fire insurance. However, as I read scripture I see salvation as something more, something greater. It is the start of a wonderful journey. A beginning place in which contains copious learning and growth. I see Paul allude to it when he says,”…not that I’ve already attained but I press on”. Salvation is the Christian walk. It is the transition of old things passing away because all is becoming new. So in my salvation I can say I’m not what I used to be but I’m becoming who I am. So my life is poetry in motion and my salvation is salvation in transition, conforming into the image of Christ.
